Lesson series
HOPE (Healthy Outcomes from Positive Experiences)
Estimated Completion Time: 2Hr
Positive experiences can ease toxic stress and help children and youth grow into more resilient, healthier adults. HOPE identifies ways that our communities and systems of care can better ensure that all children have more positive experiences and that all families have support to nurture and celebrate their strengths. The workshop covers the research behind Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs), their mitigating effects on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and the Four Building Blocks of HOPE. It will also review Type 1 versus Type 2 thinking and what HOPE adds to existing frameworks. By taking the time to learn about HOPE, you are becoming part of a movement that seeks to change the way professionals who interface with children and families deliver care. This new approach is effective, seeks active engagement with families, and works to avoid perpetuating racist systems.
