Session 6: Child Risk Factors & Advocacy for Older Youth

Estimated Completion Time: 3 hours
This session builds on earlier work related to child risk factors and best-interest advocacy by focusing on older youth and complex risk contexts. Participants examine the multiple overlapping risk factors in the Flores Case, explore additional vulnerabilities related to immigration status and trafficking risk, and apply structured risk analysis tools to develop recommendations. The session strengthens trauma-informed information gathering, bias awareness, youth-centered documentation, and court report drafting skills aligned with the CASA volunteer’s role.
